Your child works hard all year in French class. However, during the summer most students don't use the language at all. By September, up to two months of progress can quietly disappear. French Momentum Club was created to keep that momentum alive without the stress, screens, or summer guilt.

Every July and August, thousands of kids in French immersion, extended, and core French programs stop using the language almost entirely. Research consistently shows that summer learning loss in a second language is real and cumulative over the years. By the time September arrives, teachers spend precious weeks reviewing what was already learned.
You don't have to let that happen.

Learning French isn't just about passing a grade, it's about building the confidence to keep going.
Ontario's own French as a Second Language framework makes it clear: students who feel confident in French are significantly more likely to continue their studies through high school and beyond. Yet confidence is fragile. It erodes when the language goes unused for months at a time.
The kids who arrive in September still feeling capable in French? They're the ones who choose to keep going.
French Momentum Club is designed for students in grades 1 through 8 currently enrolled in a French immersion, extended French, or core French program in Ontario.
If your child is motivated by reading and enjoys a bit of structure, they'll thrive here.

Hi, I'm Maria, a French tutor, lifelong francophile, and the person behind French Momentum Club.
My love for French took me all the way to France, where I lived and worked for several years. I hold a C1 certification in French, the level just below native fluency, and I know firsthand what it takes to build and maintain a second language over time. Spoiler: it doesn't happen by accident, and it definitely doesn't survive two months of silence.
For the past four years I've run the Toronto French Book Club, a monthly gathering that proves one thing above all else books are one of the most powerful and enjoyable ways to stay connected to a language. That insight is at the heart of everything French Momentum Club does.
I also work directly with students in Ontario's FSL programs, so I understand exactly where kids are in their French journey, what they find challenging, and what keeps them engaged.
I built French Momentum Club for two reasons: I believe no child should spend September catching up on what they already knew in June and I believe learning French can be fun life-long passion.
How do I know which level is right for my child?
After you register, we'll send you a short intake form to assess your child's current level and match them with the right books and activities.
What if we're on vacation part of the summer?
The program is designed with summer flexibility in mind. Activities are short and can be done at your own pace within the week. The Zoom calls are recorded for anyone who can't attend live.
What grades is this for?
Currently grades 1 through 8. If you have a child outside this range, reach out and we'll let you know if we can accommodate them.
Is this only for immersion students?
No — it's designed for any child currently learning French at school, including core and extended French programs.
When does the program run?
July and August 2025.
